The story of Mizzica crema liqueur
Bringing the essence of Sicilian tradition to Australia
Italian traditions of family, community and hospitality
We’re Gaetano and Jessica, the owners of Messina Imports.
Gaetano’s family is Italian – Sicilian, from Messina and Catania. We’ve visited regularly for years. And like good Italian families getting together, it’s always about the food, the drink and the celebration.
A few years ago, when Gaetano was in Italy, someone served him a crema liqueur.
He’d had crema liqueurs before. They’re everywhere in Italy – both big commercial brands and bottles brewed up by Nonno or Nonna. They were good, but not outstanding. But this time was different.
Gaetano had one response: Mizzica!
Which is how Italians - especially Sicilians - say ‘Wow!’
It was the best and most amazing Italian crema liqueur he’d ever tasted. He enjoyed it every day of the trip. He bought a few bottles and brought them back to Australia.
Jessica had the same reaction.

Mizzica!
Alas, our supplies soon ran out.
We tried to find a good crema liqueur in Australia. We couldn’t.
We tried to make our own. We couldn’t capture that same creamy taste and feel of Italian summer.
So, we talked to Gaetano’s cousin Stefano, who works in the liquor trade in Sicily. And he introduced us to the producer.
Fratelli Pistone is run by two brothers in the Sicilian city of Catania. It makes premium quality liquors from the best and freshest Sicilian produce. The finest ingredients, harvested in the land of the summer sun, treated and blended with care.
At last, we’d found the source of the flavour we loved.
We decided to bring it to Australia. For ourselves, for our family and friends, for every Australian who wants to taste the best of Italy.
We entered an agreement with Fratelli Pistone, to create a range of crema liqueurs exclusively for us.
Confident of premium quality, we were ready to choose a name. Create a brand. There was only one option.
Mizzica!
We know you’ll find it as amazing as we do.
MIZZICA! MIZZICA!
